My birthday was last week and I had a wonderful day, my trip to Wool for Ewe was fantastic, I bought a beautiful James C Brett pattern for Flutterby wool. This wool is so lovely and soft, but I made the mistake of sewing on the arm wrong and when I tried to take it out to do it again it would not come, I had to cut the arm off, this was rather disheartening so my hubby took pity and thought he would help by sewing the new arm on, he proceeded to sew it on outside in, argh, in all I knitted four arms for this tiny all-in-one, needless to say I will not be working with this yarn again unless its a blanket!

So I’m off to see the new baby today, I hope mum likes the all-in-one and the beautiful Cherish set I knitted.

It’s my birthday tomorrow and I’m of to a LYS, so excited to see a room full of wool. Started a new project this week called Arielle from Misty by Kim Hargreaves it is a very interesting knit so far.

Also started a BSL course this week so I will soon be a level 2 signer, this has been a good week, I entered a couple of competitions this week too maybe my week will get even better 🙂

Well that’s room number 1 spring cleaned 🙂 Still plenty to do but at least it’s a start.

On a knitting note, great news! I received a parcel of wool, not just any wool either. It was the wool I couldn’t find anywhere to finish off my throw. It came all the way from Estonia, happy days.

I try not to drink to much caffeine but I have to say today has been a caffeine induced one, just haven’t got the energy to go without it today.

My daughter turned 21 yesterday and I think I must have turned 61 because I feel like it today 🙂

Received Colours of Shetland by Kate Davies for Mother’s Day, just can’t wait to start something from it.

As always there doesn’t seem to be enough hours in a day, I feel like I constantly complain about not being able to fit everything in, maybe I should win the lottery, quit my job, stop cleaning and then see if I can fit more knitting into my day. Good plan 🙂

Well I have had quite a froggy week, one was because of a misprint in the pattern, on one page the colour chart said one thing and on the other page it was another colour chart which of course I didn’t notice duh 😦

And there was this one, but i only frogged it because I just didn’t like it which isn’t annoying at all, just a bit of a shame 😦

As you can see the other half helped me, I ripped it out and he rolled up into a giant ball of wool 🙂

As you can see its rather a large ball.
Now what will I make?

Saw this photo and it made me think of me:)

I finished the layette for my niece, I hope she likes it as much as I do.

I have started my muckleberry hat which is beautiful, taking back a few rows already though as I am not happy with a piece but hopefully it will be my only mistake 🙂 lol that’s funny. No way will it be my only mistake.

Rather a productive Sunday, made haggis, neep and tatties for supper, made a lovely fruit crumble pie and finished a cute hat for my nieces baby and just started the mittens. I suppose it had something to do with getting up at 8 o’clock this morning, that is quite unheard of at the weekend in our home. After a long week I’m not usually up until 10 o’clock at the weekend, lazy, I know but I do love my bed.

Well I finally finished Cherish, just need to sew in the loose wool. It looks beautiful and I am very pleased with the colours. It was 3rd time lucky with this one as I kept getting the decrease wrong argh, I just couldn’t understand the pattern but I got there in the end.

I have also started my muckleberry hat, using the jamieson & smith wool that comes with the kit, it is beautiful, and I’ve only had to take it out once so far due to a daft mistake, I have knitted fair isle before but had never done it in the round so you have to allow for some mistakes, I’m sure it won’t be my only one, I usually have many. I’m back to work now and don’t have as much time to knit as I would like but I must stop day dreaming about knitting and wool when I’m at work, I need my job 🙂

It has been a lovely weekend but with being back to work now it just isn’t long enough, I am glad to be back to normal though. Made some homemade marshmallows today and its like eating sweet fluffy clouds, I will never be able to enjoy shop bought marshmallows again.

Marshmallow and strawberry skewers for pudding tonight.

I have been making Sarah Hatton’s Cherish for my niece this week and it is a lovely pattern but the instructions are not very clear, got some help from a fellow Raveller so it’s looking more promising, you will see from the picture that there is a lifeline as I have already had to take out some of it.

Hopefully this is it this time, fingers crossed. The wool I am using for Cherish is Debbie Bliss cashmerino and it is such a treat to work with, what to make next with it?

Knitting for One #8

Well can’t believe it’s 2013, my resolution is the same as last year, which shows that I never did it in 2012, but I am determined to succeed this year. I want to start a knitting group here in lovely Fraserburgh. I find it sad that I have no one to share my passion for knitting, my love for all things wooly, someone that appreciates the work that can be put into a pair of gloves, when people are used to buying their nice clothing items they just don’t see the time, effort and love that goes into producing something made by you. I think that is one of the reasons that I am the selfish knitter, when you realise that the love you put into making a beautiful item just isn’t appreciated by the receiver. It’s not that they aren’t happy with the gift, I just have the suspicion that they have no idea the work and hours that went into the gift. Maybe this is my excuse for only knitting for myself, this is very possible.

I had better get into gear for this group, What day? Where? Time? Oh the questions, what to do, I do worry that I’m not outgoing enough to start this group, I do struggle when I meet new people but we all have to step out of our comfort zone and go for things. This is probably why I never did it last year, well I know that it’s the reason. I need a kick in the backside here and I really have to go for it!

Aside from worrying about the knitting group I am putting aside my own projects to knit a layette for my niece, she is having a baby so I thought I would give her a hand made gift, I do hope she appreciates it.
